Atmosphere
Dún Laoghaire will be a riot of colour for this years Atmosphere event. Just the right time this summer to get into some beach activities. This seaside event themed around Balloons, Kites and Flight will be a great day of family fun.
Newtownsmith on the Dún Laoghaire seafront will be transformed with wonderful eye catching sculptures and displays made only of latex balloons and kite enthusiasts showing off their latest creations and stunt skills.
Who doesn’t love balloons and kites? The clear skies of high summer by the sea is the perfect time of year to display them at their best.
The event will get people of all ages involved with opportunities for visitors to interact and learn balloon modelling and kite making through workshops hosted by experts in the craft throughout the day.
The Kite Zone
One of the star attractions on the day will be the Kite Zone featuring stunt kites, large static kites and tournaments hosted by Francois and the Pure Magic team. During the event, master kite flyers will demonstrate their skills and creations. Expert Kiters will give workshops on kite aerodynamics and design.
There will be kite flying competitions and a chance to make your own kite in the “make and do” area hosted by the experts in kiting. Don’t forget to bring your own kite, so you can enjoy the full experience, as we will have a limited supply available at the event.
The Balloon Zone
Not to be outdone the Balloon Zone will feature the Balloon Dome along with all new Inflatables including the Assault Run, Giant Slide and Climbing Wall.
Professional balloon modellers will show off their skills creating models of Planes, Animals, Cartoon Characters and lots more. You will have the chance to take home their very own balloon model.
The Flight Zone
The Flight Zone will feature a Planetarium where you will be transported into the Atmosphere to space and beyond using Fulldome 360° 3D Digital Projection.
The Chill Zone
If you’ve no head for heights, Atmosphere will keep you entertained and relaxed in the Chill Zone featuring
Volleyball skills, beach games, strolling characters and beach loungers.

If you are going to Atmosphere please remember to use DART, Dublin Bus or other public transport services. There is very limited parking in the areas around Newtownsmith and ever popular Dún Laoghaire is always busy on summer afternoons.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has a huge variety of events planned for the county. Among the many events enjoyed by adults and children alike have been Kickstart, Gravitation, The Mad Hatters Tea Party and the hugely popular Teddy Bears Picnic will be back in Blackrock Park .
