Bog Of Allen Nature Centre
The Bog of Allen Nature Centre in Kildare is run by the Irish Peatland Cosnervation CouncilL (IPCC). A charity, their aim is to conserve a representative portion of Irish peatlands for future generartions to enjoy. To date there are 250,000 ha of peatlands conserved in Ireland and this represents 50% of all of Europe’s peatlands.
On visiting the Bog of Allen Nature Centre explore the wild boglands of Ireland. Experience life in 1960’s Ireland in our traditional Irish cottage interior and follow the self guiding tour of the exhibitions to learn about all aspects of Irish bogs. Guides available in six languages. Complete your indoor visit with a browse through our nature shop filled environmentally friendly gifts and for family and friends.
Continue your tour of the centre outdoors in our wildlife gardens and visit our live exhibition of insect eating plants. Collect IPCC’s top ten wildlife gardening tips along the way and finish your tour by visiting nearby nature reserves in the Bog of Allen

Family Fun Tips:-
- All camps run between 10.00 -13.00 and are suitable for children aged 7-13 years (younger children can attend when accompanied by an older sibling or have completed the first year of primary school).
- Children should wear old clothes and strong footwear such as wellies and bring a snack pack.
- Activities are held both outside and indoors.
- During the summer the Family Fun team advises children to bring sun cream and a hat when attending a camp.

Bog Of Allen Previous Events
Open Day At The Bog
Green Living and Lifestyle Open Day at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre. In a change from previous years the IPCC are bringing forward their last open day of the year. This is mainly due to poor weather experienced towards the end of the year. All are welcome to this event led by Nuala Madigan and the day will focus on how we can divert waste, decrease our energy consumption, garden with wildlife in mind and use traditional cleaning remedies for around the home.
This event is being run especially for International Year of Biodiveristy which is sponsored by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Notice Nature Campaign. The event is also supported by Kildare County Council with a Festival Grant 2010.

Bog Of Allen Heritage Week
Volunteer Days at Lullymore West Bog, Co. Kildare. Work with the IPCC to help re-vamp the visitor boardwalk on the bog. Bring wellies and packed lunch.

International Bog Day At The Bog Of Allen
Join us at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre to celebrate this world wide event. Events will include an introduction to IPCC's new Conservation Plan followed by a walk to Lodge bog where participants will see some of the ongoing conservation work been undertaken by staff and volunteers of IPCC on the site. Full details to be announced later. Adults and children welcome.

National Biodiversity Week
To celebrate National Biodiversity week the Bog of Allen Nature Centre will be hosting a Biodiversity Show
The day will see the launch of a series of wildlife talks and walks throughout the week. Children activities on the day will include pond dipping and a feature talk on Irelands butterflies will be followed by a walk to Lullymore West bog reserve where the endangered Marsh Fritillary butterfly is breeding.

Bog Of Allen Christmas Open Day
Christmas Open Day at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre. Events will include guided tours of the gardens and habitats at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre and the Peatlands Museum Workshop on how to make Christmas Cards using recycled materials and christmas decorations using cones. Funds raised go towards the Save the Bogs Campaign
The Nature Shop at the centre will be selling cards and calendars and gifts. Admission is only €2 and volunteers are welcome.

From the South
Turn off the N7 in Monasterevin following the R414 to Rathangan. In Rathangan continue on the R414 (Allenwood road) to Lullymore. We are approximately 5km from Rathangan on the left hand side of the road after Lullymore Heritage Park
