Santa Christmas Special Train
This year sees Santa make a welcomed return to the Cavan and Leitrim Railway in his Santa Christmas Special Train..
As in previous years he is bringing with him a sack full of toys for all the Girls and Boys on his Good List. So if you have been good all year make your way to Dromod for a trip on the train and a visit to Santa's Grotto.
Trains will be running from the Narrow Gauge station in Dromod between 13.00 and 17.00 for the first three Sundays in December. Once you have boarded the train, you journey along the 1/2 mile of track in one of the restored carriages. Enjoy the delights as you travel back to the station where you will visit their Tea Rooms.
Here the kiddies can visit Santa in his Grotto while the adults can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a snack. The children can give Santa their Christmas Lists and receive a small present to tide them over until Christmas.

Getting To Cavan And Leitrim Railway
Dromod is located 17km from Longford on the main N4 Dublin Sligo Road. The road is well signposted Ghost Train. As you enter the village from the Longford side turn left on the road for Mohill. About 1km on you will cross the main Dublin Sligo railway bridge. Turn left immediately after the bridge and they are located next to the Iarnród Éireann Railway station.
Ample praking is provided, how ever if you have a large party or if you plan to arrive by bus or by coach, it would be helpful if you could contacts them in advance.

we went to the cavan leitrim railway station and the boys and ourselves enjoyed every last thing that went on that day..we had the best day ever.. it might not have been all dressed up like some of the other grotto's but it was original and that was the best way..the owner was so polite and the workers were brill..And as for the santa..well he was just out of this world..he was so real to the kids..they never stopped talking about him..We will deffinately be going back. thank you everybody in the cavan leitim station for making our day special,we wont forget it..we'll see you soon again..
