Fighting Blindness member, Eric Beggs, along with the help of his local community, has organised the Cooley Mountain Trek in aid of Irish patient-led charity Fighting Blindness.

The Cooley Mountain Trek takes place on Saturday, July 12 and includes a long walk (10km) for the more advanced walker and a short walk (5km) suitable for families.

The 10km walk begins at 11am and the 5km walk at 12pm.  Buses will be available from 10.30am to transport people from the Newry end of the Lisdoo car park to the event starting point at Lumpers, Ravensdale. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided after the events in Lumpars Pub, Ravensdale.

The Cooley Mountain Trek, kindly sponsored by Bar One Racing and Fyffes, promises to be a great day of entertainment for families and serious walkers alike. Get involved to help raise money to fund research into treatments and cures for blindness and support and empower the 224,000 people living with sight loss in Ireland.

Entry fee on the day is €20 for adults and €5 for children (refreshments included). For more information please contact Vincent MacGuinness on 087 251 2605 or Eric Beggs on 086 319 3675
