Crossogue Equestrian Centre, Thurles offers you aunique equestrian experience where you can enjoy the warmth of an extended family atmosphere, excellent horse riding and tuition combined with unique equestrian facilities. Horses have been an integral part of the Molloy family who run Crossogue House for generations. They have bred, produced and trained horses for the highest levels in Showing, Show jumping, Eventing and Racing.

They welcome all standards of rider offering basic training in the arena, quiet walks along trails throughout the farm to action packed sessions over the extensive range of cross country obstacles. Crossogue Equestrian has been the venue for numerous competitions to National level in the past, while now they prefer to use the facilities for the exclusive use of there guests pleasure instead.

Enjoy a day at Crossogue Equestrian Centre with morning and afternoon riding sessions together with a hearty 2 course lunch in-between. Ideal for families, riding clubs, beginner riders or visitors to the region, they can introduce you to the sport of horse riding in a safe and fun environment. For the experienced rider, come and enjoy a session over the cross-country course.Specialised One-day courses such as Introduction to Cross-Country clinics are available.

 

Activities At The Crossogue Equestrian Centre

Crossogue Equestrian specialises in entertaining individuals, families and small groups from the beginning of September through to the end of May

They have a range of facilities for all standards of rider with the speciality being cross country and riding in the open spaces of their 150 hectacre farm. There is a large array of cross country obstacles located throughout the farm that have been designed and built for all standards of rider to enjoy and develop their riding skills. The team at  Crossogue Equestrian also have gentle rides through rolling fields and woodland, along trails and on the banks of the Farney River.

All have well-trained hourses and and experienced tutors give riders confidence to develop their jumping skills over a large selection of well made obstacles. Crossogue also offer a number of specialist cross-country clinics for all level of rider throughout the year for residential and non-residential guests. Introduction to Cross-Country and specialised One Day Event Clinics are scheduled at various times.

They advise guests to bring a good, well-fitting riding hat, suitable footwear, which should be a boot with a flat sole and raised heel. Trainers/runners are not permitted. They strongly advise guests to wear an approved body protector for all riding activities. Riders MUST wear a body protector for cross-country. It is essential that they fit well.

Toy can combine horseriding with alternative activities such as a day out horseracing, golf, fishing, cycling, tennis and scenic trails for walks and runs.

 

Holidays Options At Crossogue Equestrian Centre Thurles

If you enjoy a relaxed, warm, family atmosphere, then you will be right at home at Crossogue House. They offer full board for the duration of your holiday or short-term visit, providing all meals and refreshments. Due to the original construction of this Georgian house, they currently have four twin guest bedrooms available with some of the larger rooms able to sleep up to a family of 4 if necessary. Hot showers are available at all times and they provide all towels and a laundry service if required.

Mealtimes are a focal point of each day, giving guests an opportunity to discuss events in an informal, relaxed way. The delicious, home-made cuisine is based on the use of there farm and garden produce and there is plenty of it. Vegetarians can be catered for. Just let them know at time of booking of any special dietary requirements.

At Crossogue House they prefer to host a small number of guests (for example 4-8) at any given time so that they can concentrate on giving all their visitors a quality experience in a comfortable and friendly environment.

  • Weekend Breaks

Arrive Friday evening for evening dinner and settle into Crossogue House before the action starts on Saturday morning. Riding twice a day, the sessions combine flatwork, jumping, cross-country and relaxed rides around Crossogue Farm.

  • Long Weekends

Arrive Thursday evening and depart Sunday afternoon. Involving six riding sessions, this break is ideal for families, clubs, sports and social groups as well as individuals wanting a different weekend break. Non-riding partners are welcome, with plenty of local amenities to keep non-riders occupied.

  • Week Holidays

Week holidays at Crossogue Equestrian Centre provide a fun, informative and progressive programme of riding that challenges and enables you to reach your individual riding goals. As well as horse riding, there will be plenty of opportunity to relax, see a little of Ireland and be part of an extended family ambience.

Every summer and during school holidays, The team at Crossogue welcome unaccompanied young people aged 12 – 18 years of various nationalities to Crossogue House. The atmosphere is truly cosmopolitan and they are proud that many guests return to Crossogue year after year. There is a great selection of horses and ponies to suit all abilities as well as a fine selection of crazy Crossogue riding instructors!

Directions To Crossogue Equestrian Centre Thurles

Crossogue House is located 7km from Thurles town, which is served by a rail connection from Dublin Heuston and Cork.
From Thurles, take the R498 road, then turn off on the R503. Follow this road until Ballycahill. Go through the village (with the Thatch Bar on your right), turn Left after the sports field. Continue to the end of this road where you meet a T-junction. The entrance is straight ahead of you.
