Dernakesh Pet Farm in Cavan, is a family run visitor centre featuring animals from the four corners of the globe. The pet farm is set on a four acre site in Dernakesh and is an especially unique experience for every visitor, young or old. On the Dernakesh pet farm you can meet and interact with a growing and diverse range of animals, up close and personal with indoor and outdoor viewing facilities. This is truly an exceptional educational experience.

When you visit the pet farm there is lots to see and do including a guided tour where visitors can interact with and meet all the animals, watch feeding, learn about the animals and even watch chicks hatch. The Heritage museum is a new addition to the Dernakesh Pet Farm experience and it adds more educational value to a visit to the farm. 

Dernakesh Pet Farm is one of the largest indoor animal viewing facilities in Ireland, has been transformed into a wildlife haven with mural covered walls depicting our inhabitants. Its the perfect choice for a school tour, birthday party/special occasion or even just for a fun family day out with a difference!

Summer Camps - August

Become a Zoo Keeper for a week at Dernakesh Pet Farm! Summer camps running on a weekly basis for the month of August. A wonderful week of fun experiences and animal learning before back to school time comes. Camps are suitable for children aged between 6 to 13 and are limited to twelve per week.

Monday to Friday / 10.00 to 15.00 / €80 per child

The pet farm is situated on the Cootehill - Canningstown road, in Maudabawn, near Cootehill, Co. Cavan.

• From Cootehill

About 7mins from cootehill, 6.8km Turn right of R190 onto R191 and after 5.4 km turn left and Dernakesh Pet Farm will be on the left after 91m.
 

• From Bailieborough

About 16mins, 15.3km Take the Cavan road out of Bailieboro. Go approx 3.0km and then turn right at R191. Continue to follow R191 for 12.1 km. Then turn right at Corragarry and Dernakesh Pet Farm will be on the left after 91 m.
 

• From Cavan Town

About 32mins, 30.2 km Head north on Fernham St/R212 toward Church St/R212. Turn right at Cootehill RD/R188 and continue to follow R188 for 22.3 km. In Cootehill town turn right at Bridge St/R190 for 84m and then turn left at the top of the town onto Market St/190 continue to follow R190 for 1.8 km. Turn right of R190 onto R191 and after 5.4 km turn left and Dernakesh Pet Farm will be on the left after 91m.
