Discover Dún Laoghaire this Christmas as it is all dressed up this year for the exciting Christmas Festival from the 18th November and running through to the 23th December 2017 presented by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in association with the Dún Laoghaire BID Company will sparkle with family fun and is sure to make your festive spirit soar.
Santa arrives to Harbour Plaza on Saturday November 18th with Christmas Carols and festive fun from 5:45 pm and a magnificent fireworks display will illuminate the night sky to officially turn on the Christmas lights. Santa will then take up residence in his magical Grotto at Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre.
Santa’s Postbox at the Christmas Tree beside dlr LexIcon is open until Sunday December 17th to post your letters to the North Pole and receive a reply before Christmas Day.
Then the Christmas lights will be switched on in the town centre featuring not one but two Christmas trees and a whole new set of lights on Marine Road. If that’s not bright enough, the opening ceremony will finish with a dazzling fireworks display over Dún Laoghaire Harbour.
The merry Christmas Market on the Metals will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a feast for the senses featuring delicious festive fare, handcrafted gifts and decorations, a funfair with an old-world children’s carousel and a whole host of very special tempting treats.
Watch out for details of the Santa Hat Challenge for Enable Ireland in Moran Park on Saturday December 9th.
Why not swap city centre crowds and stuffed out-of-town shopping centres for Dún Laoghaire town centre with over 280 retail outlets and businesses. From Saturday November 18th the second hour of on street parking is free when you pay for the first hour.

As in previous years, Santa’s Grotto itself will be housed on the first floor of the Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre welcoming children and parents alike from Sun Nov 18th right up to Christmas Eve and early booking is advised.
