Otherworld Halloween Festival
Otherworld Festival, one of Dublin's biggest Halloween events takes place in Ballymun. This year the festival will transform the Plaza in front of the Civic Centre and axis on Main Street into "Hallowmun" a freaky, crazy town where anything can happen on Halloween night. Hallowmun Town will come alive alive with a poetry graveyard, a Play Zone, a Youth Chill out Zone music tents, 'thrilling' dancers and performers, costume and makeup stalls, jokes corner, food stalls, fireworks display and much more.
Back in town again this year is Gerbola Circus with circus performance workshops for children, young people and youth workers, in the run up to Halloween night. The festival will also feature the unique and quirky work of "Melimage" as witnessed by Ballymun last year. What incredible visual images will they have for us this year?
The Halloween Parade will start at the Days Hotel at 18.00 and make its way down the Main Street and then on into Hallowmun Town. Some other highlights on the night will include the Dark Direction Dancers and the Artane Band.
The festival will close with an amazing fireworks display.
In the weeks leading up to the event, professional artists are working with schools, communities and groups in Ballymun towards creating impressive works of art to be showcased on the night. Watch out for the Molliidolls, 100's of customized Halloween rag dolls, which have been made by children and young people throughout Ballymun.
