The Donkey Sanctuary
The donkey Sanctuary is set in the beautiful rolling country side of County Cork just outside the village of Liscarroll near Mallow. The Donkey Sanctuary have taken in over 2,400 donkeys rescued from all parts of the country. Many donkeys have been abandoned or put in a field and given little or no attention after having worked for their owners for years, hauling peat or pulling a cart.
The Sanctuary strongly believe that their suffering should cease.The feeling at the Donkey Sanctuary is that supporters have the right to see how their money is spent on caring for the large donkey family.

Facilities At The Sanctuary
During you visit to the Sanctuary, please drop into the Visitors' Information Centre. If you are visiting with your family, or arranging to meet others at the Sanctuary, the centre also acts as a good central meeting point. In the Visitors' information Centre you can purchase all your donkey-related gifts as well as find out all about the Sanctuary. Also there for your enjoyment is a tea/coffee machine, picnic area as well as disabled access and toilet with baby changing facilities.

Adop A Donkey
Why not visit the sanctuary with the family and adopt a donkey! You are invited to adopt one of our donkeys for one year to help towards the costs of our charity.The adoption fee is €20 per year and you will receive details of the donkey you decide to adopt, together with a beautiful drawing, an adoption certificate and a twice-yearly report. For an extra €10 The donkey Sanctuary will send you a DVD of the adopted donkey group.
Family Fun Tip;-
- Dogs are very welcome to join you on your visit, although please ensure they are kept on a lead at all times.
- We recommend that you wash your hands after handling the donkeys, especially before eating.
- Washing facilities can be found in the toilet block behind the Visitors' information centre.

Open Monday-Friday 9:00. to 16:30
Open Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 10:00 to 17:00
Directions To The Donkey Sanctuary
The Donkey Sanctuary is located just outside the village of Liscarroll near Mallow, Co. Cork.
When you arrive in Liscarroll, take the turning up past the castle and the Sanctuary is about 500 metres up that road on the right.
