Adventure Bushcraft for 8 – 14yrs

This fantastic course offers an opportunity for young people (8-14 yr olds) to learn essential ‘skills of survival in the wilderness’ from the experts.

Rustic Woodcraft for 8 – 14 yrs

Mark started the orignal childrens course at the weekend in the woods and is very pleased to reintroduce this course. Students will get a opportunity to make several items during the weekend including – a simple rustic chair – stick baskets – rustic faces – copper leaves and more! Suitable for boys and girls, the main aim of the course is to teach children how to use hammers, nails and scrap wood to make usefull and fun items and hopefully encourage children to make things at home.

Straw Craft

Learn the ancient and magical craft of weaving with golden stalks of wheat. Using traditional heritage varieties, participants discover the many fascinating ways people have used this simple, natural material, to create things that are both beautiful and mysterious.

Spinning, Weaving and Natural Dyeing

This course offers a fabulous introduction to the age-old craft of spinning and weaving wool and the opportunity to make a small bag. Each participant will also receive comprehensive written instructions on will spinning and natural dyes. Materials charge is €17 and is to be paid to the tutor.

Basketry

Enjoy learning to create your own beautiful basketry by participating in this great course.

Stone Carving

An introduction to the tools and methods of stonecarving. A relaxed and immediate emmersion into working with Limestone, Portland and Slate

Leatherwork

This course is an introduction to the tools, template design and basic techniques of leatherworking, where participants can expect to make several small hand-stitched items, eg. small bag, belt, purse, phone or knife pouch. Dyeing leather is also included.

Natural Building

This is a practical course where participants will learn to build using a range of natural materials with a mixture of techniques including: Cob (Mix of sub soil and straw) and Cord Wood ( Logs and clay motar with sawdust insulation). Participants will learn how to build walls, how to test SubSoil, how to mix cob and natural insulation and see the wide possibilities for building inexpensive beautiful and natural buildings both small and large while having fun.

Silversmithing

This course in Silver jewellery making is suitable for beginners as well as for people who already have some silver or metal work skills and would like to increase their level of knowledge and ability, offering the opportunity to use a comprehensive range of specialist tools, diverse equipment and offering hands-on instruction in how to use these correctly and safely.

Traditional Felting

Learn to make a bum mat and a shoulder bag using traditional feltmaking techniques. ×

Dry Stone and Lime Mortar Wall Building

Discover how to build a beautiful sturdy dry-stone wall using traditional techniques using locally gathered stone. Course includes learning to make garden features. Also included in this course is an introduction to the use of lime to make a strong and breathable mortar

Wood Carving

This Woodcarving course caters for beginners and those with varying levels of experience, including those experienced in wood carving who may wish to bring a project they are already working on for guidance and advice.
