Bray Summerfest, Ireland's biggest free family 'beach party'. Running over six weeks during July and August, Bray Summerfest Festival is still the biggest free festival in Ireland and still combines the best in live music, beach and sea sports, funfairs, fireworks, outdoor concerts, markets, an air display, street performances, and much, much more. The will launch on Wednesday 8th July 2011

Beach Extravaganza

The free beach extravaganza boasts a packed programme to appeal to audiences of all ages. When it comes to music, Bray Summerfest will rock the beach as the Seafront's iconic Victorian Bandstand is re-constructed into a mainline festival stage for five nights of eclectic live music - from rock to reggae and gospel to pop. All live music performances on the seafront are FREE

The five night music programme closes once again with the summertime's most explosive fireworks extravaganza.

Bray Rowing Club Annual Regatta

The best of East Coast oarsmen competing for the day. Children to adult racing. Crews from Courttown, Arklow, Wicklow, Dun Laoghaire. Dalkey, Ringsend and of course Bray. A fun day out for all the family.

Glenrow Farm On Tour

Glenrow farm is coming to town and will open it's touring petting farm on the seafront (south beach opposite esplanade Hotel). Get up close to some of your favourite animals and pets.

Fire Sculpture "Love And Tears"

Artist Hannes Jung crests a fire sculpture for the entire festival. The huge installation reaches 8m in heigh and the Fire show created alongside music is as impressive.

Workshop - Bray Arts Dance

Bray Arts present a dance workshop that is a physical, creative and enjoyable family fun experience for those who have never danced before or have lots of experience. Led by teacher Barbara Donnelly expressive use of the body develops co-ordination. This event returns after a huge success last year.

Bray Arts Fancy Dress Bike And Trike Parade

Bray Arts present - a cavalcade of bicycles and scooters for 0-8 years in fancy dress along the promenade. Decorate your bikes and trikes at home or in the Arts Tent before the parade. Face painter, a juice and snack for all the participants that make it over the finish line.

Puppet Theatre

The Julie-Rose McCormick Puppet Theatre has been performing shows to children and adults for 24 years internationally and throughout Ireland. Puppeteer on the Lassie movie presents 'The Chinese Princess and the Cricket'. A tale of a chinese princess with a wicked warrior king daddy, who will save her, come and find out! A lively and interactive show for the whole family.

The biggest free fireworks display of the summer, Bray Summerfest sets the midsummer night sky and Bray promenade alight. An explosion of colour to enthral the entire family.

Summer Seafront Funfair 

The sunniest family fun with Ireland’s biggest beach funfair ever!! Attractions on the northern end of Bray Seafront include traditional Dodgems, Ireland’s largest outdoor rollercoaster, the awesome Frisbee, the return of the Jubilee Ferris Wheel on Bray beach and for the first time the all-new flying high Chairoplane to touch the sky! 

For little ones, they have traditional carousels, the Worm coaster and much more. Individual charges apply at each ride.

Other top Aerobatics display acts include Eddie Goggins, Gerry Humphries and Angelo Cunningham, plus the Coastguards Sea Air Rescue Demonstration, Parachuting, Static Displays and much, much more.

Parking And Transport For The Bray Summerfest Festival 

Transport

  • Last DART departs Bray for Dublin 23.20 daily (23.30 Sundays) and departs Bray for Greystones 23.28 daily (23.41 Sunday).
  • Last Finnegan Bus departs Bray Station for Southern Cross 23.00 daily (20.30 Sunday).

Parking

Parking restrictions will be in operation on Bray Seafront, Summerfest Weekend July 18 and 19, and on Albert Avenue July 14.

Car Parking available in Seafront Zone at North Beach Car Park, South Beach Car Park and rear Star Amusements and also in Town Centre Zone at Bray Civic Plaza Car Park, Herbert Road Car Park and Florence Road Car Park. Charges may apply.

 

The Bray Summer Fest Festival Code

The festival takes place at a beautiful location with a family friendly atmosphere. We have put together a small code to ensure it lives up to the experiences and standards of every year.

  1. It is illegal to drink alcohol outside a licensed premises – bye-laws will be enforced.
  2. Please respect local residents when attending the Festival and be quiet when leaving the area.
  3. Deposit your rubbish in the general waste and recycling bins provided.
  4. It is illegal to trade or busk throughout the site without a permit.
  5. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
  6. Also make sure to replenish with some of the superb food on offer throughout the Festival.
  7. We encourage you to travel the green way and reduce traffic congestion. Do not drink and drive under any circumstances.
  8. Remember the morning after. Your body gets rid of roughly one standard drink – that’s half a pint, a glass of wine or a shot – per hour. Please work it out – and drive safely.
  9. Keep an eye out for your family and friends at the Festival – Find a meeting point.
  10. All outdoor events are weather permitting – In the event of rain, some events may be moved to a selected Rain Day.
