Kinsale Harbour Cruises Cork

Kinsale Harbour Cruises are ideal for families who wish to enjoy the scenic beauty on Kinsale Harbour out on the water. Kinsale Harbour Cruises offer culture, education and enjoyment for families. The “captain” of the boat so to speak is Jerome. Jerome gives a well informed commentary which includes a brief history and anecdotal legends and an insight into how Kinsale town has developed over the centuries.

The Boat Trip

Kinsale Harbour Cruises have scheduled daily trips which depart on the hour. They depart from 300 meters along the quay beyond Actons Hotel.

Leaving the quay, the boat passes the boat marina and travels on by the scenic fishing village of Scilly. Jerome will sail in quite close to the shore as this gives you and your family an incredible opportunity to see the rich wildlife of seals, herons, shags cormorants, terns and otters.

Further on the boat passes by Charles Fort, which was built in the late 1600’s to reinforce the defences of Kinsale Harbour. After the War of Independence it was surrendered to the Free State Government and is now an OPW (Office of Public Works) heritage site with daily guided tours.

There are clear views of The Old Head of Kinsale and Light House before the cruise turns at the mouth of the harbour.

Upon reaching the opposite side of the harbour mouth you will see James Fort which built in 1603 as a consequence of the Battle of Kinsale to prevent any further invasion.

The boat then travels onwards towards the Dock beach and continues to Ringrone Castle.

To top off this memorable trip the boat will travel up the Bandon river passing three marinas; private marina, fisherman’s marina and the yacht marina. Breath taking images of a wide variety of boats and yachts bobbing in the water with the back drop of this picturesque town completes a worthwhile and enjoyable trip around Kinsale Harbour.
