Ballina’s Halloween Festival

Ballina will be hosting the Samhain Abhainn festival from the 26th to 29th October for all families to join this Halloween

The aim of the festival is to celebrate the unique Irish historical context of Halloween

So why not come to Ballina this Halloween? The banks of the Moy are set to be transformed into a land of magic, mystery and myth waiting for you, your family and your friends to come and enjoy!

Get ready to be enlightened and frightened this Halloween in Ballina, Co. Mayo, where the mysteries of ghosts and ghouls, spooks and spirits come to life

The festival is the first of its kind in the west of Ireland boasting a jam-packed events program with family-oriented activities, youth events and something for everyone from the very young to the not so young!

The events planned include art workshops and pumpkin carving, traditional activities and go test your nerves with spooky strolls through Belleek Forest, if you dare…

 

Scary Woods Walk: (26th – 28th October)

The Scary Woods Walk in Belleek Forest is a seriously impressive event with The Mayo Arts squad transforming the woods into an interactive installation of fright and fun which will be set-up for people to come and enjoy throughout the Halloween weekend

As dusk turns to darkness, the setting gets even scarier with ghosts and ghouls, and clowns and goblins coming out to invite you into their night-time world, certaintly not for the faint hearted!

Young children can enjoy the scary surprises of the forest during the day to take part in the spooky fun! An event will be especially held for them to meet the friendly fiends on October 29th

  • Sunday 28th October – 6pm

 

Friendly Fiends of The Scary Woods Walk: (29th October)

A special opportunity for mini spooks to come and visit Belleek Woods during the  day and meet and greet some ‘friendly fiends’ of the Scary Woods Walk

Enjoy the forest installations of the woods and meander through the magical Belleek Forest

This is a very special afternoon, especially planned for the very young to get dressed up and enjoy Halloween

Pumpkin Carving Workshop: (29th October)

Enjoy a hands on personalized pumpkin carving workshop at Ballina Stephenites GAA Club by designing your own pumpkin under the expertise of local artist Gemma Mc.G and helpers

An event for the whole family to enjoy, so care and display your pumpkin and then take it home with you!

All children MUST be accompanied by an adult
