Archaeology Summer Camps

The School of Irish Archaeology camps are the alternative to the sports camps and may suit your children aged 7 – 12. If your child has a craving to soak up knowledge and to learn about the world around them, then this is the place for them! The School of Irish Archaeology prides itself on an innovative, engaging and hands-on form of education though archaeology in a fun and friendly environment.

Camps are run all year round for children who like to get their hands dirty! The School of Irish Archaeology introduces the mysteries and adventures of archaeology in a fun and relaxing environment through an original and dynamic camp with a twist. This unique camp allows children to experience a wealth of activities which are hands-on and practical.

Through their Indiana Jones style approach SIA focuses on Irelands rich Culture and Heritage! They ensure the children get lots of time outdoors with their specialised and fun-packed day trips. Throughout the camps children will visit places such as Glendalough, Trim Castle, Dublin Castle plus much much more! Historical treasure hunts plus fun activities all day guarantees your child will sleep soundly every night after camp.

The Big Dig Event

The School of Irish Archaeology is proud to introduce their finest product the Big Dig! The replica ‘Viking House’ workshop and excavation is designed around children from 5 – 12 years of age. This innovative product allows children to explore the Viking world through a simulated and controlled archaeology dig. Children have an opportunity to experience what it is like to be an archaeologist by learning how to excavate the remains of a Viking house. The children will have an opportunity to dig for Viking treasures and artefacts dating back over 1000 years and learn about our Viking ancestors through the eyes of real archaeologists!

They ensure this educational and one of a kind experience won’t leave your children disappointed. They guarantee it will leave them wanting to know much more about the work of archaeologists and who our ancient ancestors were!
