Set on 80 acres of mixed woodland in the former gardens and stable yards of the Wandesforde Estate, it is located in the south-east of Ireland 20 km north of the city of Kilkenny and 24 km from Carlow town, and only 90 minutes from Dublin on the Motorway.

Reach new heights by climbing around “The Octagon” a series of challenges in the form of nets, ropes and wooden bridges on an octagonal frame over two levels. Finish with a trip down Ireland’s longest Zip Line, at 300 metres long and 35 metres above the ground you will feel exhilarated.

How about a crash course in archery bringing out the Robin Hood in all ages? or  try the string of walking and orienteering trails through the beautiful and magical woodlands accommodating varying levels of fitness. There is something for every age and every ability, and enough activity to create an entire action-packed day.

Teaching children to become more active and to discover and play for themselves is important for all ages, so Castlecomer also caters for younger children, with a playground, an elf and fairy village, and series of low-risk challenges where children balance and steer their way through a Junior Woodland Adventure Course, all situated inside a stunning, natural environment that’s second to none.

Located just over 90 minutes south of Dublin, the Castlecomer Experience in Kilkenny is a treat for the entire family.

Castlecomer Discovery Park will open all week between 10th -18th February specifically for Mid Term Break, between 11 am and 3 pm each day. The boats and canoes will remain closed during this week.

Directions To Castlecomer Discovery Park

From the centre of Castlecomer town take the N78 towards Dublin, go over the bridge and after 200m you will see the main iron gates for Castlecomer Discovery Park on your left.

Coming from the Athy or Carlow direction, Castlecomer Discovery Park is on the right hand side just before you enter Castlecomer town. There is parking on site for cars and buses. Just follow the signs as you come in through the main gates.
