Cliffs of Moher Experience
One of Ireland’s favourite visitor experiences, the Cliffs of Moher tower over the rugged west Clare coast and stretch out for 8 km. Walk the safe, paved pathways and view the famous Cliffs on Europe’s western frontier and enjoy the spectacular vistas over the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. Their natural beauty has inspired artists, musicians, and poets for generations, as well as absorbing scientists and geologists, drawn by the unique landscape in which they sit.
O’Brien’s Tower stands proudly on a headland of the majestic Cliffs Moher. Visitors have access to the tower and the viewing platform on the roof, where the Cliff views are most spectacular.
There are lots of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, like the information centre with modern, educational fun interactive facilities such as the interpretative exhibition, a children’s play area, binoculars and information cards for bird watching. The new 4D Ledge Experience is going down a treat with younger visitors!

The centrepiece of the Visitor Centre is a circular exhibition space that has a domed roof structure, with a diameter of 25 metres. You’ll be immersed into an interpretative exhibition, which not only animates the story of the Cliffs, presenting the geology, wildlife and human aspects but draws stories and information from all around County Clare and Ireland. To bring to life the many different aspects of the Cliffs, the dome is organised into four main themed areas: Ocean, Rock, Nature and Man.
Visitors enter via a viewing ramp which provides access for all to the main dome. The building has been sunken into the contours of the land and is covered by the grass hillside.
Cliff of Moher Experience Viewing Points
The Cliffs of Moher Experience has three primary viewing platforms.
Main Platform:- From the main platform you are able to see the south cliffs and towards Hag’s Head.
North Platform:- The North platform is located at the highest point of the Cliffs, Knockardakin at 214m or 700 feet above sea level. It is also the location of the Tower viewpoint, O’Brien’s Tower and from here you can see An Branán Mór Sea Stack, home of the guillemots and razorbills. You can also see the surfing wave ‘Aileen’s’, Aill Na Searrach, to the right when it is up and running. On a clear day you can see across to the Aran Islands: Inis Oírr, Inis Méain and Inis Mór and to the left views of the beautiful Galway Bay. Also, from this platform you have a fantastic view of the South Cliffs that stretch for 8km.
South Platform:- The South Platform is a perfect viewpoint of the Puffin colony, the puffins make their home on Goat Island, a grassy island when you look down and to the right. From this point you can see the Cliffs as they continue towards Hags Head. You may continue your walk to Hags Head.
The Cliffs is a Special Protected Area under the EU birds Directive 1979 and is home to Ireland’s largest mainland seabird nesting colony.
