Dads Day Off

Escape the hustle and bustle of the present day and go “Back to the Future” with Dads Day Off on 26 September in Cabinteely Park, Dublin. Remember growing up in the 80s when Pacman, the A Team and roller skates were cool!  The 1980s brought us awesome pop music, great teen movies, and some of the weirdest fashion trends ever to grace the shelves. Big hair, leg warmers and nappy pants on the girls were in the shade compared to the Fluorescent shirts, Miami Vice jackets, acid washed jeans and all-stars sneakers on the guys.
DLR Events is getting ready take you back to the decade of mixed tapes, crimped hair and neon spandex for a day of nostalgia for modern world weary dads in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown.
To set the mood there will be free screenings of classic 80s movies on the big screen at 14.00, 17.00 and 19.30. There’ll be plenty of 80s fun and novelty treats to amuse big and small kids alike, including a display of the coolest classic cars and bikes.
This fun filled flashback welcomes all of the family, especially Dad.  The backing track for the day will be packed full of eighties hits from The Cure, Prince, The Police, Duran Duran, Madonna, AHA, Billy Idol, Tiffany, The Go Go’s, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackon, The Clash, Jesus and the Mary Chain and many more!
Between movies why not try your hand at the Pacman challenge? Play pacman on the big screen and the winner of the challenge will take away a special prize!  Bring a picnic and a picnic blanket or buy some food from the catering area and settle in for the day.  Have a go on some of the games that will bring you back to your childhood!  Games like It’s a knock out, the bucking bull, Monopoly, rubix cubes, Mario brothers, donkey kong and many more will bring back colorful memories.
A great Free event and a great day out is guaranteed for all the family.
