Family Fun Raceday At Leopardstown Racecourse 2012

Leopardstown Racecourse have relaunched their Family Fun Racedays in Association with the The Ross Nugent Foundation and FM104, so why not join them  this spring on 15 April and 13 May. The aim of the Family Day events is to provide the perfect day out for families, to support and raise awareness for the Ross Nugent Foundation and to introduce the local community to racing at Leopardstown.
 
Enjoy the spill and the thrill of racing as well as lots of fun activities to keep the whole family entertained including the Wooly Ward Mobile Pet Farm, The Madhatter teacups party, Custard Pie Puppet theatre and a range of bouncy castle inflatables.
 
All entertainment on the day is FREE!.
 
Leopardstown Racecourse hit on this winning concept by introducing The Family Fun Racedays to coincide with the opening two days’ of the flat season. The Ballysax Stakes (Sunday April 15th) and the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial (Sunday May 13th) and these racedays are now an integral part of their racing calendar. Leopardstown racecourse sees itself very much as a community amenity and they welcome families of all ages to come experience all they have to offer.

 

Leopardstown Family Fun Events 

Front Runner

Front Runner is designed to provide a race- related activity to young racegoers on a raceday. Ideally suited to children in the 6 -12 age groups. Young Racegoers Club introduces young racegoers to the various elements of horseracing in a fun and interactive way.

Learn how to read the racecard, design your own racing colours and have the chance to meet some of the stars of the turf as well seeing the horses and jockeys up close.

The Young Racegoers Club will meet in the white marquee at 13.30 on Sunday, 15 April and Sunday 13 May where you can find out a lot more to find out more. 

 

Custard Pie Puppet Company

The Custard Pie Puppet Company performance are a well-know hightlight of the Laeopardstown Family Fun Raceday, with hilarious performances which will have both children and grown-ups rolling in the aisle 
 
 

Wooly Wards Pet Farm

The Wooly Ward’s Mobile Farm and Animal Theatre  will include a selection from sheep and lambs, goats and kids, chickens, rabbits, pigs, hamsters, guinea pigs, and even horses and llamas.

  • Tickets for Adults €15 
  • A special Family Ticket costs €25 and will admit two adults and an unlimited number of children. 
  • You can avail of a 10% discount by buying your tickets online

How To Get To Leopardstown Racecourse

Leopardstown Racecourse is located just six miles due south of Dublin city centre. It has two entrances to Leopardstown Racecourse on Family Fun racedays. One is on Leopardstown Road, near the roundabout linking Leopardstown Park Hospital, Leopardstown Road, Sandyford Industrial Estate and Brewery Road, with a second entrance off the M50 at junction 15 at Carrickmines.

Car parking is free, but they do advise customers to allow ample time for the journey on racedays

The LUAS lite rail offers a regular service from St Stephens Green to Sandyford / Brewery Road which takes only 22 minutes. The racecourse is only a short walk from the station however a complimentary shuttle bus service is available on racedays.
 

A bus service operates from Busaras to the racecourse on racedays returning after racing for departure times contact Leopardstown on 01 2890500 or Dublin Bus 7034404.
