National Gallery Of Ireland Children Events

There are a series of kids workshops and family events that take place during the year in the National Gallery Of Ireland that are educational and fun for the kids and all the family. There is at least one event per week, and more during the school holidays. The team of tutors are experienced and make learning about art fun!

The National Gallery of Ireland houses the national collection of Irish and European fine art.

Programme Of Children Events

All events are free unless otherwise indicated. Tours are given by a panel of freelance art historians.

Important details about the Family Programme!

• Numbers are limited to 40 on a first-come, first-served basis

• The programme is free, lasts one hour and takes place in the Atrium on Level 1, except where specified

• Suitable for children between ages 4 and 10, and involves activities for adults and children working together under the guidance of a qualified tutor

• Children should be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times

Weekend Family Events

The Family Programme of events provides a fun opportunity for families to enjoy creating together and learning about art through free activities exploring storytelling, music, art, poetry and drama. Each weekend there is a different theme for everyone to enjoy.

Baby Workshop

These workshops are for babies who are not yet walking and their grown-ups, and take place on the 3rd Monday of each month at 2pm. These workshops are a fun and relaxing way for your babies to socialise and to explore new colours, textures and sounds as well as getting comfortable in the National Gallery!

Tiny Tots Workshops

Tiny Tots Workshops for the under-5’s and their grown-ups. Have fun exploring colours, shapes and sounds with storytelling and art!

Numbers limited to 15 tiny tots. Booking is essential at [email protected] or 01 663 3505 and opens the Monday before each workshop. The programme is free and lasts 35 minutes. Suitable for children from walking to under the age of 5. It involves activities for adults and children working together under the guidance of a qualified tutor.

Activity Sheets

A series of children’s activity sheets on a wide range of themes including animals, children, and pictures that tell stories, are available for children to use in the Gallery, on our website, and to take home.

Supporting The National Gallery Of Ireland

Admission to the Gallery is free. However the Gallery welcomes donations, which are used to support the many programmes provided as part of its service to the public. They suggest €3. Visitors may leave their donations in the boxes located about the building.
