Surfdock Watersports School

Surfdock are a watersports school and shop located in the Grand Canal Dock where they have been teaching kids camps, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and stand up paddleboarding for 25 years. They also offer kayak and paddle board (SUP) rentals for use in and outside the Grand Canal Dock. Their school is only a short distance from the city centre and easily accessible by car and public transport .The activities are suitable for everyone, with or without any experience in watersports.

Kids Watersports Camps

Fun watersports camp for children aged 8-16 years. During the week the participants will do a mix of windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and dinghy sailing and cable wakeboarding. No experience is required for any of the sports. Their qualified instructors teach the participants through a series of fun-filled sessions. Participants will be in groups with other children of the same age.

Summer Camps

Fun watersports camp for children between the ages of 8 – 16 years. Activities include: windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, sailing and the new cable wakeboarding. their qualified instructors teach the participants through a series of fun-filled sessions.

The camp starts at 10am (supervision available from 9am) and runs until 4.30pm (supervision until 5pm). Surfdock Watersports School have been running kids camps in the Grand Canal Dock for 25 years and their fully qualified instructors have great experience in working with children and teaching water sports. The activities are suitable for children and teens with or without any experience in water sports.

School Tours At Surfdock

Dublin’s most exciting school tour! Surfdock, together with Wakedock, offer the whole package of water sports. Choose a half or full day of activities including stand up paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and the new  cable wakeboarding. (See video below)

No experience in any of the sports needed. Surfdock qualified instructors will make sure that your day out in the Dock is safe and lots of fun with every session tailored to your needs whether your focus is on teambuilding, specific sports training, a splash and dash session or a mix of all. All equipment provided. Suitable for age 8 +. 1/2 day programmes from €20 per child, teachers free.

Kids Birthday Party Venue

Surfdock organise fun activities for children’s and teen’s birthday parties. Parties run over 2 hours of mixed activities including a choice of paddleboarding, kayaking, wakeboarding and windsurfing. Surfdock qualified instructors will make this fun and safe for the children. They provide all the equipment for the session including wetsuits and buoyancy aids, so all the children need to bring is swimwear, a towel and an old pair of runners. From €20 pp with a minimum group size of 10 children.

Surfdock Facilities

Surfdock have free parking for customers on the quayside and have changing rooms and shower facilities for participants of their courses. All equipment is provided and included in the price, participants need to bring swimwear and a pair of runners that they don’t mind getting wet.

Directions To Surfdock Water Sports School

Surfdock’s watersports school is only 5 minutes from the city centre and in walking distance from the Grand Canal Dock DART station. There is free parking available while dropping off/collecting children.

By car

From the Southside:
Driving into the city centre through Merrion on the Rock Road, follow the coast along Sandymount Strand as if going to the East Link Bridge. When you get to Irishtown (you would normally turn right here to go to the East Link), keep going STRAIGHT through this junction, this will lead you into Ringsend Village. Follow the road through Ringsend, heading for the City Centre. You will go over a small hump backed bridge, and immediately there is a junction. Turn RIGHT here, and you will drive straight into the Grand Canal Dockyard!

From the Northside:
Come into town on the North Strand Rd, leading you by Connolly Train Station and the IFSC. Cross the Liffey and immediately turn LEFT onto the South Quays. Follow the quays until you get to the RIGHT TURN into Lime Street. At the next traffic lights, turn left onto Pearse St. Follow the road, across the brigde over the Grand Canal Dock, passing the Dublin Bus depot on your left-hand side, to the next junction (look out for our sign), and turn LEFT here. You will now drive straight into the Grand Canal Dockyard.

From the City Centre:
Get onto PEARSE St, heading out of town towards Ringsend. When you pass the Dublin Bus depot on your left-hand side, to the next junction (look out for our sign), and turn LEFT here. You will now drive straight into the Grand Canal Dockyard.

LUAS Red Line

The Point station is an eight minute walk away. Getting off the LUAS go towards the East Link Bridge. Cross the bridge and go along a small path, turn right and then left onto Thorncastle Street. Walk to the end of the road, TURN RIGHT, cross the bridge over the Dodder and at the next junction TURN RIGHT. Follow the road straight through the gates into the Grand Canal Dockyard.

Dublin Bus

Routes 1, 15A, 15B, 56A and 77A serve the Grand Canal Dock area directly. Most other services on the Dublin Bus network serve the City Centre which is a short distance away by foot.
