All Year Round!

Throughout the year dlr Mill Theatre’s Drama Facilitators will be offering your pupils the opportunity to engage with your chosen text on the Arts Education Syllabus by tailoring Drama Workshops to suit your specific requirements.  Workshops are led by experienced facilitators and designed to engage the student creatively by exploring characters, themes, language and communication.
Dates/Times: Teachers can book individual class workshop for a date and time convenient to you.

Venue: The workshops take place in your own school

Jackula

Being a vampire sucks, but being Dracula’s younger brother is driving Jackula batty. Join Jackula on a spooktacular quest to step out of his older brother’s shadow and become the world’s first fun vampire. Laugh as Jackula makes his pet ghost dance. Gasp as Jackula balances five glasses of water on his face. Smile as children help him perform spellbinding tricks. An inspirational Halloween magic show about staying true to yourself. The show is performed by Jeff Keough who has entertained at The White House, Leinster House, and his daughter’s senior infant Class. Jackula has been recommended by the Irish Time’s. Build your Own Instrument Music Workshops: Dabbledoo Music
Date/Times: Mon 27th & Tues 28th Jan at 10am, 11.30am & 1pm in the Main Auditorium

This workshop will give you the opportunity to build a musical instrument, then use it to perform music together as a musical ensemble! Donegal-based instrument builder Ed Devane will guide you through the assembly of a unique musical instrument, capable of making a wide variety of sounds. This will be followed by a music-making session with Killian Redmond from DabbledooMusic. Guided by a range of animated and colour-coded musical scores, Killian will instruct you how to play your instrument as part of a large group. Suitable for ages 6-12. All materials provided and no previous experience required.

Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of our native language and culture that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries.

Sé aidhm na ceardlainne seo ná úsáid na teanga a chur chun chinn ar bhealaí éagsúla, le cúnamh sheanscéalta is siombailí na hÉireann. Ag díriú ar bhríomharacht, ar spraoi agus ar an nglór, forbraíonn an cheardlann seo muinín an duine in úsáid phraiticiúil na teanga  in éineacht le féinsamhlaiocht.  Ó Ghráinne Mhaol go Tír na nÓg, téimis ar thuras Gaelach le linn Sheachtain na Gaeilge.

An exploration of the Irish language using heroic figures from Irish heritage and mythology. Using the great stories and symbols from Ireland, this is a workshop aimed at integrating the use of our native language in an engaging way. Focusing on fun, physicality and voice, the workshop integrates confidence in practical use of the language alongside imaginative self-expression. From Gráinne Mhaol to Tír na nÓg, we take a gaelic adventure through Seachtain na Gaeilge.

For Seachtain na Gaelige 2020, DabbledooMusic will be visiting the Mill Theatre Dundrum to deliver a series of very special workshops. Using our colour-coded and animated graphic notation, participants will be making music together in no time at all. Learn about melody with Jazz Cat, drumming with Igor the Octopus and perform an Irish Polka. No previous musical experience or knowledge needed (although expect there to be ‘cúpla focal as Gaeilge’ used!). Suitable for children aged 6-12.
