Yoga Village in Dalkey, Dublin is the home of Yogakids International the premier yoga for kids programme going since 1991.Yogakids is a unique approach to integrative learning using yoga as a pathway. The Yoga for kids curriculum provides children with an exiting new way to explore and appreciate their creative potential. Children learn invaluable life skills that set the groundwork for meeting challenges and growing strong physically, mentally and emotionally, cultivating self-esteem for a lifetime of successful achievement.

At the newly refurbished beautiful studio Yoga Village in Dalkey with it’s wooden floors and comfortable and safe environment for the practice of yoga  the founders Heidi presently the only certified teacher in Dublin and Dee a mother of four kids  understands the difficulty of trying to integrate Yoga into a busy lifestyle. All the teaching staff are fully qualified and fully insured.

Yogakids are invited to play and learn with a style that addresses the natural interests, need and rhythms of children and at a pace that is age-appropriate.

Relax Yoga For Kids Workshop

Relax Kids  – help children relax and improve their emotional and mental well-being.  Relax Kids is a unique method of teaching children to relax using dance and movement, games, stretching and breathing exercises, peer massage, affirmations and visualisations. Children enter a magical world as they have fun relaxing their bodies and minds.

 

Yoga For Teens

Also at Yoga Village they run Yoga for Teens classes that bring bring together many of the best aspects of Yogakids as well as ‘adult’ yoga techniques which blend seamlessly to provide classes specifically designed for the changing and developing teen years.

Classes include posture work, free movement, games, sharing and partner work, breath work, quiet reflection and guided relaxation. The classes equip teens with a great grounding in yoga and all of the invaluable life skills that it provides.

Today’s teens are under a tremendous amount of stress, coping with body changes, school, exams, peer pressure, etc. Yoga is a wonderful outlet for teens and gives the gift of body awareness, self-acceptance, self-confidence, stress-coping skills and relaxation.

Most of all Yoga for Teens is an enjoyable experience for the teens, striving to help them feel GOOD about themselves just the way they are!

Yoga For Teens is aimed at ages 12-16.

Mother And Baby Yoga

Mother and Baby Yoga class is time for new mothers to be supported in mind and body recovery from birth. Mother and Baby yoga allows slowing down in a safe and supportive environment.

The first two weeks involve time to hear birth stories and reclaim your post-natal body and some gentle excerises for the babies,week three and four involve baby massage. Week five and six focus on your pelvic floor and strengthing the back and stomach . The post-natal period can be lonely and difficult for some and getting out to a group to meet others in similar situations can be a great support. Overall it is a fun class with a relaxed atmosphere.

The classes are open to new mothers and babies, with or without yoga experience, bottle or breast fed babies. The mum and baby class can be started once you and baby have had the six week check up.The class is run on a six week basis but you can do a drop in if you are going to miss a number of classes.

Bring what you would bring with you if going to meet friends for lunch with baby in tow. If you are bringing a buggy just be aware there are stairs in Yoga Village but someone can assist you. You don’t need to bring a mat as they  will supply one for this class.

They  are located on St Patrick’s Road in the heart of the beautiful village of Dalkey in South County Dublin,opposite Idlewidle Café and next to Kelly’s Design

It is easily accessible by car, bus or DART. There is ample metered parking on St Patrick’s Road as well as a large church car park on Castle Street

Yogakids Summer Camp

The team at Yoga Village run a fun-filled four day Yoga for kids Summer Camp filled with yoga for kids poses, games, activities, artwork, story-telling, dance, free-movement, music, breath work and relaxation.

The kids will have the opportunity to explore new postures, art and activities that the normal one hour classes don’t permit. They will be given time and space to express their natural creativity and flexibility through body movement, rhythm and art.

Each day will be based on a different and enjoyable theme.
