Its Halloween Family Fun time again in Castlecomer Discovery Park Kilkenny with plenty of fun events to keep everyone amused. The Trick or Treat Trail returns again with new challenges and questions and they have also introduced two new indoor tours, 'Halloween House of Horrors' and 'Bubble and Squeak'. Also in the run-up to Halloween, they will be running a turnip carving competition with all entries to be featured as part of the indoor tours.

Bouncy Castle And Face Painting
Bounce crazy over the Bank Holiday Weekend in October! Children can visit the Bouncy Castle & get their Face Painted on the hour or the half hour daily between 12.00 - 16.30
Classification:- Family Tour / 9 + years
Dates:- 29 - 30 October
Time:- Tours will run on the hour and last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Opening Time 10.00 - 17.00
Admission: - Children €5
Booking :- Places are limited so early booking is advised.
Storytelling And Fancy Dress Competition
Join Witch Becky for her ghoulish tails of Halloween's past OR dress up for our competition judged at 16.30 daily on Sat, Sun & Bank Holiday Monday.
Turnip Carving Competition
Did you know that the original Halloween lanterns were carved from turnips and that pumpkin lanterns are a more recent American invention. In order to get into the spirit of an Irish Halloween, they are organising a children’s turnip carving competition.
To enter, simply carve your turnip, put your name, age, address and a contact telephone number on a sheet of paper inside the turnip and hand it in to the reception desk at Castlecomer Discovery Park before 17.00 on 30 October. The winning entrant will receive a €30 voucher for the gift shop and all entries will be used as decorations in their indoor Halloween tours.
Classification:- Carving Competition / Entrants must be under 13 years of age
Trick Or Treat Trail
This year, the Trick or Treat Trail will run from 29 October - 6 November. Families can register at reception between 10.00 and 16.00 on the day of their choice, collect their question sheet and then go out into the woods to complete the puzzles.
The cost is just €10 per family and every family to return their completed sheet will win a prize.
Family Fun Tip:- This is an outdoor event so suitable footwear and clothing will be necessary.
Ghost Train
Are you brave enough to enter the woodlands after dark? Take the train ride to the woodlands and take a walk in the darkness of the evening, watching out for hidden ‘surprises’ – are you sure that rustling noise is just the wind in the trees?? The faint hearted may wish to stay in the visitor centre!

Time:- Tours will run on the hour and last approximately 40 minutes to an hour. Opening Time 19.00 - 21.00
